Small business

Many small business owners will hire a bookkeeper to keep track of their day to day expenses and income. A basic bookkeeper keeps tracks of expenses, profit, receipts, etc. and enters the information into a computer program. The bookkeeper will then provide the information to their client on a monthly basis or however frequent the client requests to be updated.

A catering business is a service oriented business. Caterers will provide food, sometimes supplies and service for social events like weddings, anniversary parties and just about any other
gathering.

There are a few different ways that you can start a candle business. There are many Direct sales companies which give you the freedom of running your own business while they supply the candles. If you prefer you can always make your own and start your own business from scratch.

5 Ways To Make Money Fast and Easy

This is where the rubber meets the road. Traction is something we all lack when we are doing our research and ultimate field tests in the quest for our first million. More traction would be great whatever step in the ladder you are at.

We generally focus on helping fledgling millionaires in our work because it is the most rewarding and gives us the greatest bang for our buck. To see an individual go from clueless to savvy in a fortnight is a gratifying experience. When its our resources that helped that transformation, then its very satisfying indeed. So thats the area we focus on here. This is for people who need direction but have small resource capital to manufacture acceptable results.

So lets give you a little traction before you seize your jets. The following 5 strategies will give you the moves to take you to the first level. -A guy/gal with a proven idea that can be replicated-(An enviable position to be in)

1) Lets get this straight.

Million dollar bank balances are numerical in nature. By that I mean a million bucks is not made up of 1 large million dollar bill. Its made up of exactly one million single’s. Or to go to the lowest common denominator, its actually numerically made up of One thousand, million (or 1 billion) cents.

Make money fast and easy by thinking of money as numerical and therefore exponential. A dollar that you hold in your hand is the same as $1 million dollars. No difference at all. Its a seed that grows into a tree, then that tree spurrs more seeds. (I apologize for the metaphor, but how else can we put this so you understand the nature of the reality as it is)

2) When you approach your 1 million dollar goal, you are biting off much much more then you can chew thinking about that million.

To make money fast and easy always think small. Refine, refine, refine. Then duplicate, duplicate, duplicate. Are you with me? Is this making sense? Make a simple little mouse trap, then make lots of mouse traps exactly the same way.

3) Find demand and supply into that demand.

To make money fast and easy, even before you think about “what” you will do, you are going to research demand. You will become an expert at sniffing out needs. This skill is a millionaires bow and arrow. Let me tell you, most millionaires couldn’t hit the side of a barn much less the bulls eye. But they DO know this. So their aim is not important. What is important is that the target is nice and gigantic. How can they miss?

Trust me, its what millionaires do, its how millionaires think. Always supply into Fat juicy demand where the picking is easy. Do you want medals of bravery or a million bucks asap?

4) Have a structure you never deviate from.

They always failed to plan when they planned to fail. Once your research is done never deviate from it. Give it a good run but if it doesn't work out for you then move on without shedding a single tear. Chance and “chaos theory” are fascinating things. Probability is what millionaires deal with. They never delude themselves into believing in absolutes.
To make money fast and easy, you will not work backwards or second guess yourself. Plant yourself firmly in the middle of the road on the high side and go forward. Don’t make it up as you go. Stick to what your demand planning told you to do. Many give up after 1 failure, but probability is a funny thing. We think we can control it, but even when all your ducks are lined up in a row, it may not work. But give it a chance and let it prove itself and you may find over a number of attempts you will get the results you expected.

5) Diversify AND Go deep

They call out diversify when it comes to investing. Fair enough. Things change and relying on just one source for your income stream is dangerous. And it is. But there are two sides to every coin.

The pareto principle states that reality and probability are stacked unevenly. We as rational human beings think of everything as equal and even. However scientific evidence and business experience tells a different story. The pareto principle is also known as the 80/20 rule. It states that 80% of your results comes from 20% of your activities. Is this significant if true? You bet. It means that of every effort you make, of all the many things you do to manufacture your results, only 20% actually is responsible for a large proportion (in fact 80%) of them.

So what does this mean in English? It means you can easily quadruple your results by finding out what that special 20% activity is and stop doing everything else. By focusing on just that 20% activity you will not only increase results, but you will create a new pareto principle refined of the old one at a higher level. In this way you move forward and evolve your activities to higher and higher levels.

To your health and rapid success.

Home Based Business vs. Family Time

Ironically, most of us got into the home based business world because we wanted to have more time with family. So how is it that we sometimes have less time? Let’s take a look and see what can be done about it.

The promise of having more time with family is one of the major attractions for a home based business, but time has to be carefully managed and guarded. If you are in a regular job working at least 40 hours per week, it can be tough. One thing that must be communicated to your family is that there has to be a short term pain for a long term gain.

You have a finite amount of hours available to you, but here are some suggestions. If you have children at home and it becomes chaos as soon as you get home, then one possible strategy is to stay at work an extra hour later. You can return quite a few phone calls in an hour and it would probably be uninterrupted. A home based business can have a remote office!

Another strategy is to take mass transit if you normally drive. It may allow you an extra 30-60 minutes per day to organize contacts, return phone calls, or listen to training materials with your mp3 player. If your company has training or motivational phone calls that are at a bad time for you, it is possible to record them (check with local laws on it).

I have recorded many calls to a $39 digital voice recorder with a $15 connector that goes from my phone to the recorder (available from Radio Shack). You are then free to listen to the calls on your time.

I make it a priority to spend time with my kids when they come home from school. I work from home full time, so I take a break mid-afternoon to see how their school day was and enjoy a snack together. I then head back to my home office until dinner time.

I also have less need for sleep than the rest of my family so I frequently take an hour or two at night or early morning. This can be extremely productive time for a home based business, but unfortunately does not usually allow you to return phone calls. I used my lunch time at my old workplace for that using a cell phone – my investment in the large minute plan was worth it.

The exact solution for you has to be determined by you for your particular home based business. However, my advice is to plan ahead and block out the family time. Make sure you clearly communicate with all family members about what time you are blocking out for your business activity. As long as you communicate well, you should be able to spend anxiety-free time on your business.

With some good planning, you can be successful in being good to your family and your home based business.

Affiliate Marketing

Why Is It One Of The Most Cost-Effective Ways To Advertise Your Business

Ever heard of affiliate programs? These are forms of Internet advertising that rewards the affiliates for driving traffic to the advertiser or for other transactions. The advertiser pays the affiliate to place a link on their website, and the affiliate sends traffic to the advertiser in return. Simply put, it's about paying commissions to people who help you make sales. It's that easy. NOT.
Affiliate marketing has its ups and downs. It could be draining if you are not armed with updated information and the technical how-tos. But this article's sole objective is to reach out to you and not to badmouth affiliate marketing.

Here are the following reasons on why web marketers go gaga over affiliate marketing as a form of Internet advertisement.

1. Low cost

Many are scared to go on a home based business because of the capital required. In affiliate marketing, you don't have to spend much to start raking in moolah.

2. Inventories not included

Product management fuss could be very stressing. An inventory is not asked to be maintained. The merchant does the maintenance required.

3. Unlimited income through leverage

When you have a paid job, your monthly income mainly relies on whether you go to work or not. With affiliate marketing, your affiliates could all just lead traffic to your site without having to lift a finger after providing them your ad copy and links. Though not every web marketer earns limitless, it still is a fact that all the necessary matters for the advertiser or Internet marketer are all there to be successful.

4. Go worldwide

With affiliate marketing, you are dealing with a global market place. All you have to do is choose a niche product and prepare all the necessary tools for your affiliates to lead traffic from just about anywhere to your website.

5. Low risk

The very main reason for Internet marketer's enthusiasm with affiliate marketing is its having a low risk factor. Especially for those with low budget set aside for advertising, affiliate marketing is just the way to do it.

6. No closing time

With affiliate marketing, your business works every single second of the day while targeting a worldwide market! What could be better than that?

But all of these will be put to waste if you don't have the right niche product and all the other important tools to make it big in affiliate marketing, i.e., well-SEO-ed website. So better work on this first before ever considering those benefits.

Best Home-Based Business Ideas

Organizing garages, advising eBay sellers, collecting debts, and pet-sitting are ideas for starting a business out of your home in 2007.
by Karen E. Klein

Is this the year you'll to start a small business from your home? If so, what opportunities provide your best bets for success? Menlo Park (Calif.)-based Homestead Technologies, which helps entrepreneurs design and maintain their Web sites, has come up with a list of the best home-based business opportunities for 2007. Manvinder Saraon, the company's vice-president of marketing and business development, discussed a few of them recently with Smart Answers columnist Karen E. Klein. Edited excerpts of their conversation follow.

How did you determine which business opportunities have the most potential for home-based entrepreneurs in 2007?

We looked at the business areas where there's a lot of spending going on and the areas that are hugely popular right now. We also looked at commonly held "pain points" for consumers, and trends where there are markets breaking out. We also looked at how difficult it is to get started, in terms of experience, education, and money. For instance, we feel that one of the best opportunities presenting itself for the home business market is being a garage organizer.

Why specifically focus on garages?

Because there's been a popular trend toward home makeovers and interior design and closet organizing for a few years. You don't have a big barrier in having to educate the marketplace about whether this is a valuable idea. But the one area of the home that's not been focused on so far is the garage. And garages of typical Americans tend to be very cluttered. So there's a market there, and it also presents easy entry: You don't need a specific degree to organize a garage. You're offering your skills and your time and hard work.

What are some other categories with a similar familiarity in the marketplace?

Another one is a niche market created by the eBay phenomenon. There are more than 700,000 businesses selling on eBay, and many of them recognize that they would be more successful if they had access to market research like pricing strategies, shipping information, and product analysis.

Home-based entrepreneurs who have some experience with eBay themselves could provide educated recommendations to these sellers or would-be sellers on a consulting basis. It's a classic business-to-business niche, but with an application in a new and growing marketplace (see BusinessWeek.com, 9/7/06, "EBay Sellers Go Back to School: 10 Tips").

A similar idea would be doing specialized outsourcing jobs. Outsourcing is integral to many firms that have limited resources and need to focus on their core competencies, and a lot of companies prefer doing business with other small-business owners. So we could see home-based entrepreneurs doing outsourcing jobs for small companies.

What kind of outsourcing services would they provide?

It depends on their backgrounds. They could specialize in business functions like sales, customer service and support, human resources, recruiting, accounting—any competency that they have and that a small business cannot afford to build in-house, or chooses not to establish in-house. For instance, there are people who love interacting with the public and who are very good on the telephone. Small companies could hire a home-based person like that to answer telephone or e-mail inquiries and take orders, as long as they can get them the proper training and familiarize them with the company's products, policies, and services.

One of the specialized services that we pull out for inclusion in the list on its own, by the way, is running a home-based debt-collection agency. There is so much outstanding debt that we currently have more than 6,000 debt-collection agencies in this country. But we believe there is going to be more growth in that area and more fragmentation in terms of individual debt-collection services popping up to specifically service small businesses.
